The Defence Forces (Óglaigh na hÉireann) consists of a Permanent Defence Force and a Reserve Defence Force, organised to provide the agile and flexible force structures required to carry out all roles assigned by Government.    Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, this new role at Assistant Secretary level will be headquartered in Newbridge with necessary regular attendance in Dublin and elsewhere as required. The Defence Forces’ Head of Transformation, a civilian position, will be a member of the senior Defence Forces leadership and management team and the Defence Strategic Management Committee. Working with the senior leadership and management team, s/he will support the Chief of Staff directly and drive, support, advise and enable the future transformation of the Defence Forces in line with the Government-approved High Level Action Plan.    The Head of Transformation will be empowered to design, lead, create, communicate and deliver on an integrated and joint vision for strategic and operational level transformations impacting all three military services (i.e. Army; Air Corps; and Naval Service) and their respective Reserve Forces both permanent and reserve.  The successful candidate will lead the delivery of challenging strategic transformation programmes across the organisation, working closely with senior colleagues and also with external consultants as required.    The successful candidate will have:   • A record of achievement in their career to date demonstrating excellent senior management and leadership experience and a record of effective delivery including cultural and digital transformation;    • the skills, capacity and track record at a senior level in programme management, oversight and stakeholder engagement to lead the Defence Forces’ Transformation programme;   • highest personal and professional integrity and strong work ethic in line with Public Service and Defence Forces’ Values ;   • proven experience of collaborative cross-functional working at a strategic level and the ability to network across Government including a capacity to operate within and relate effectively to the political process and environment or the capacity to rapidly develop same;    • a proven track record of delivering on organisation-wide change programmes at a senior level;   • relevant experience in a similar role in progressing large complex organisational transformation and cultural change projects across the private and/or public sectors.   It is desirable that candidates hold a level 9 degree or higher in a business, HR, or a related discipline;   Further information on this significant senior leadership opportunity, including details on how to apply, is available on www.publicjobs.ie.   This is a Top Level Appointments Committee (TLAC) position.     If you feel you would benefit from a confidential discussion about this role, contact Ciarán Oman on ciaran.oman@publicjobs.ie.    The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 15:00 on Thursday 5th January, 2023.   We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.
