Description

Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) is an associated office of the Department of Justice and it plays a pivotal role in Ireland’s criminal justice system.  It provides comprehensive scientific analysis, independent expert opinion, advice and training to support the Irish Justice system.   Reporting to the Director General, the Deputy Director will play a critical role in FSI’s senior leadership team by effectively leading operational delivery of some forensic science services and/or corporate services (e.g. case management, client relations, ICT, corporate governance) and assist FSI in continuously improving its services, capabilities and contribution to the criminal justice system. In addition, the Deputy Director will also help lead FSI’s transition as it relocates to its new facility in Backweston, Co. Kildare    The successful candidate will. • hold a Level 8 Qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Science, Forensic Science, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Physics, Engineering Science, Mathematics, Computing/Computer Science. • have significant management experience in a progressive science-based organisation. • have a track record of managing sustained improvement, operational delivery and strategic projects concurrently.   Closing Date:  3pm Thursday 4th November 2021.   We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.  .
