County Kildare is one of twelve Local Authorities in Leinster comprising the East and Midlands Region. It has a population of over 210,000 which is the second largest in the province and is also the 8th largest county in Leinster. An opportunity now exists in Kildare County Council for the role of Senior Architect. The Senior Architect will lead a multi-disciplinary team within the Architects’ Department delivering architectural, planning, procurement, urban design and conservation services to the Local Authority. Reporting to the Director of Service and Chief Executive s/he will assist in the delivery and supervision of a high-quality architectural service to a diverse client base and work collectively with various departments within the Local Authority, other state agencies and the local community. The successful candidate will: • Hold a professional qualifi cation in Architecture that is prescribed, under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Architecture that is equivalent to a qualification so prescribed; • Be eligible for registration as an Architect under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment will be subject to registration under the Act; • Have at least seven years’ satisfactory relevant experience of architectural work including a period of not less than five years’ satisfactory experience in a responsible capacity as team leader of multi-disciplinary design teams and the administration of construction contracts as Employer’s Agent or equivalent role; • Have knowledge of the principles of Urban Design and planning policy and practice.
