Part of Grafton Group Plc, Grafton Merchanting ROI is a significant player in the builder’s merchanting industry and a leader in Ireland and the UK. Within Ireland, they also operate a strong DIY retailing organisation with stores nationwide, as well as a kitchen business. They are now looking for a Steel General Manager to take charge of steel operations throughout the business. This is an incredible opportunity for a high calibre professional with senior management experience and a strong grasp of the steel industry to advance their career with Grafton Merchanting. You will be able to put your own stamp on this impressive group and will be a key decision maker within the senior team. As the Steel General Manager, you will be tasked with managing, developing and monitoring the performance of steel operations within Grafton Merchanting ROI. Working to help achieve the overall business strategy, you will join the Senior Management Team and help to create a sales-driven culture with your Division. You will provide a high level of support and management for your team and will ensure clear targets and defined objectives are met consistently. Ensuring excellent levels of customer service and operating standards are delivered, you will seek to enhance the customer portfolio whilst maintaining the existing base. You will allocate staff resources as required, support the development of strategic plans and identify new opportunities to grow the business. Your role will also involve: - Managing steel purchasing for the entire company. - Building supplier relationships. - Driving divisional profitability. - Undertaking domestic and international travel as required. If so, you will need: - At least three years’ in a similar senior management position. - Significant experience of managing a team. - Good knowledge of the steel industry. - The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions. Communicative and driven, as the Steel General Manager, you will to be a highly organised ‘people’ person with strong prioritisation and interpersonal skills. A flexible nature, the willingness to learn and the ability to manage change are all key. A third level qualification (or equivalent) in a business or management discipline would be beneficial to your application.
