Our client based in Midlands is currently recruiting for a Technical Manager. This role will support and manage technical matters across the site on a day to day basis. The Role: Develop a professional working relationship with officials from the Department of Agriculture. Work closely with the Head of Sales to anticipate developments in international markets and how this impacts on the development of new SOP’s, production processes etc. Maintain the HACCP system and accreditations including BRC. Work closely with the Project Manager for the plant upgrade program to ensure all opportunities to improve food safety are taken on board before engineering plans are signed off. Identify non-conformances, root causes, implement corrective actions. Staying on top of technical developments and advising the Managing Director and Plant Manager of legislative changes that impact existing production processes. Manage customer audits. Chair weekly meeting of the food safety team. Organisation and supervision of the technical team as they execute their daily tasks. Ensure the plant is always in a state of audit readiness. Completion of supplier audits and annual supplier review in conjunction with the Quality Department. Preparing reports for and attend the Monthly Management Meeting. Requirements: 5 years + relevant experience ideally within a food manufacturing environment. Educated to degree level in Food Science or related subject. Internal audit training and HACCP QQI Level 5 / 6. Previous experience in the Irish beef industry an advantage but not necessary as training and development is available to the successful candidate via IMS and our external adviser. Confident and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to analyse, understand and solve problems. Demonstrate an energetic, self-motivated and flexible approach in all matters.
